SEND Schools
Little Wandle wanted to showcase one of their standout SEND partner schools through a case study film, highlighting both the teaching approach and the impact it has on pupils and staff. The project required a sensitive documentary-style approach, capturing authentic classroom moments while working around the rhythm of a busy school day.
Newby Primary School Case Study Films
Client: Little Wandle
Director: Wesley Roskell
My Roles: DoP and Editor
Deliverables: 5 x Short case study edits
The aim of the project was to create a collection of case study and demonstration content that would help communicate the effectiveness of Little Wandle's SEND teaching materials.
Filming took place during live lessons, alongside interviews with teachers and school staff. With limited opportunities to interrupt the school day, the production needed to be efficient, flexible, and as unobtrusive as possible.
Using a lightweight setup allowed us to move quickly between classrooms and interviews while maintaining a natural feel throughout the content. Capturing genuine interactions and real learning environments was essential to ensuring the final films felt authentic and representative of the school's work.
The resulting content was used both as a case study and as supporting material for wider educational stakeholders, including the Department for Education.
About
What I Enjoyed
The documentary-style nature of the shoot made it particularly enjoyable. Every classroom and lesson presented new challenges, requiring quick decisions and constant adaptation throughout the day.
I enjoy productions where you have to react to what's happening in front of you, and this project was a great reminder of how powerful authentic, unscripted moments can be.
